Gymnastics Zone has 3 new Level 3 state champs

Three members of the Level 3 Compulsory Team from Napa’s Gymnastics Zone came home as state champions from the USAG NorCal Level 3 North State Championships, hosted by Petaluma’s Redwood Empire Gymnastics Nov. 22-23 at Callinan Sports Center in Rohnert Park.

Mufich takes state title for Gymnastics Zone Level 4 team

The Gymnastics Zone’s Level 4 Compulsory Team wrapped up postseason competition at the USAG NorCal Level 4 North State Championships on Nov. 15 and 16 at Oroville Gymnastics.

Sasha Mufich was the big winner of the weekend, bringing home a state title for the team.

Silva leads locals with 2 state titles

The Gymnastics Zone Level 5 compulsory team members wrapped up their compulsory careers last weekend at the USA Gymnastics Women’s Junior Olympic State Level 5 Championships, hosted by Edge Gymnastics in Oakley.

Camille Silva was the big winner of the weekend, adding two state event titles to her resume.

Gymnastics Zone competes in Reno meet

The Napa gym’s compulsory teams traveled to Reno, Nevada last weekend to compete at the Goblin Games, hosted by Deltchev Gymnastics Academy. The academy was founded by Stoyan Deltchev, a former Bulgarian Olympian who trained with Gymnastics Zone head coach Bogi Michovsky as part of the Bulgarian national men’s gymnastics team. The meet featured not only impressive gymnastics, but also a costume contest and Halloween-themed fun for the gymnasts. The Zone girls left the Silver State with many new individual and team titles to their credit.

After three weeks on the road, Gymnastics Zone’s three compulsory teams earned individual and team honors in front of their hometown Napa crowd at their second annual Flipping Above the Valley Invitational.

Napa gymnasts compete in season opener

The three compulsory teams from the Gymnastics Zone opened their season at the River City Classic, hosted by Elevate Gymnastics in Elk Grove.

Gymnasts earning a score of 34.500 or higher (levels 3 and 5) or 34.000 (level 4) during regular-season competition qualify for postseason state championships in November. These gymnasts have qualified for championships:

Level 3: Fallon Abernathy, Jayla Daniel, Morgan Phipps, Emily Tran, Kylie Holman and Alexa Rendon.

Level 4: Sasha Mufich, Scarlet Hunsaker, Hali Chaykin and Adaline Hanes.

 Level 5: Ashlyn Parlett, Camille Silva, Shannon Sowersby, Kristina Meno, Ashley Gilbert and Haley Corrigan.

All three teams will compete again Saturday at The Begonia Gymfest, hosted by Santa Cruz Gymnastics.

We're Still Here!!

We have had so many phone calls over the last few days, understandably, asking if we are up and running and holding classes in the wake of Sunday's earthquake....

We want to assure you that the Zone is most definitely running business as usual and sustained no damage (other than a few things coming off from the shelves) during the quake.  We're eager to see each and every one of you at your regularly scheduled class in the coming days.

Our Flipping Above the Valley Invitational compulsory meet scheduled for Saturday, October 4th and Sunday, October 5th is still a go - we'll see you there!!

Gymnastics Zone Level 8 optional team earns trip to regional championships

The Junior Olympic Level 8 Optional Team from the Gymnastics Zone competed in the Northern California State Championships last weekend at Technique Gymnastics in Rancho Cordova and returned home with two new state champions and spots at next month’s regional championships.

Gymnastics Zone optional team competes in Pikes Peak Cup

The Junior Olympic optional team from the Gymnastics Zone competed last weekend at the Pikes Peak Cup, hosted by Aerials Gymnastics in Colorado Springs, Colo.

Girls optional team takes top honors

The Gymnastics Zone optional teams brought home top honors from their latest competition, last weekend’s Roseville Invitational at Byers Gymnastics Roseville.

The Level 7 team finished in second place with a score of 109.325.

Boys team seventh at meet

The boys team from the Gymnastics Zone finished seventh with a score of 171.400 last weekend in the third meet of its season, the Mas Watanabe Invitational hosted by Byers Gymnastics of Elk Grove.

Xcel teams first at Roseville Invitational

The Gymnastics Zone’s Xcel competitive team competed at the Roseville Invitational last weekend hosted by Byers Gymnastics Roseville.

The Bronze team finished in first place with a score of 115.025.

Gymnastics Zone optional team competes in Aloha Gymfest

Gymnasts from 28 gyms from the U.S., Canada, Australia, England and Japan gathered in Kailua, Hawaii last weekend for the Aloha Gymfest, hosted by Kokokahi Gymnastics. The first international competition of the season proved that the team from the Gymnastics Zone was ready for the challenge, as the team left Hawaii with many new awards.

Three Napa gymnasts score top in nation

Three of the Gymnastics Zone’s Junior Olympic optional level gymnasts have placed in the MyMeetScores National Top 100 gymnasts for 2014 with their high scores from the Golden State Classic held in Roseville on Jan. 11 and 12.

Level 7 gymnast, Katy Cordeiro made the list in two events and all-around with her scores on vault (9.500), beam, (9.350) and all-around (37.275).

Level 8 gymnast, Blake Gozashti also made the list in two events and all around with her score on vault (9.325), bars (9.350) and all-around (36.900).

Level 8 gymnast, Thea Michovsky qualified for the top 100 list in one event with her uneven bar score of 9.300.

MyMeetScores.com compiles the top 100 scores in America for each event and all-arounds at each USA Gymnastics competitive level as reported by official scores at competitions throughout the country.

Gymnastics Zone Xcel teams sweep season opener

The Golden State Classic meet, hosted by Technique Gymnastics in Rancho Cordova, served as the season opener for the Gymnastics Zone girls Xcel competitive team. The team swept several levels of competition, bringing home many awards.
