Coming Soon - Xcel!

The Gymnastics Zone is very excited to announce the formation of a second competitive team in our program!  The Xcel Program is a USAG program designed to offer a broad-based, competitive experience outside the traditional Jr. Olympic Program

The program gives an opportunity for:

Class students to participate in organized gymnastics events.

Those athletes who have competed in the USA Gymnastics Jr. Olympic Program and have qualified to Level 7 or above but need a more basic introduction to optional competition.

Those athletes who have competed in the USA Gymnastics Jr. Olympic Program at the Compulsory level and would like to experience a basic optional program during their "off" season while they train skills to move up in the JO Program, if they wish.

Those athletes who have either "retired" from the Jr. Olympic Program or do not wish to train or compete at Level 7 or 8.

Athletes not previously involved with USA Gymnastics to enter the program.

Watch for this exciting new program to begin in the coming months!

Olympic gymnast visits Napa to promote 2012 trials

The city of Allen, Texas is pretty darn proud of Carly Patterson.

Patterson was the 2004 Summer Olympic Games all-around gold medalist in women’s gymnastics for the U.S. She won an additional two silver medals at Athens, Greece on the balance beam and in the team competition.
For all of that, Allen threw her a parade upon her return home. There are still signs in town that read, “Home of Olympian Carly Patterson.”
Patterson retired from competitive gymnastics in 2006 at the age of 18, but remains close to the sport. She was at Napa’s Gymnastics Zone on Walnut Street early Saturday to promote next year’s Olympic Trials, which will be held June 28 to July 1, 2012 at HP Pavilion in San Jose. Patterson was also on hand to meet with young gymnasts, answering their questions about the sport.
